The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School is a community-based school for all ages. Even though our name implies we are just for adults, we have plenty of offerings open to youth and teens.
Most of our classes are open to anyone aged 14 and older including our day trips, art and pop-culture talks, and Broadway shows. We also have classes geared specifically to younger learners and parents.
Our fall semester is filling up with exciting opportunities for teens and young adults. They can dive into creative classes like painting, crochet, and dance, focus on wellness with meditation, yoga, and tapping or get active with our popular Bollyx Workoutclass. Plus, as your teen navigates high school, we offer essential classes for planning their future: SAT/ACT prep, Choosing the Right College, The Gap Year Advantage, and Job Search with LinkedIn.
If your family has elementary schoolers, we have classes for them, too. Junior Golf, Keyboarding for Kids, and What to Expect in Middle School are all popular with our younger learners.
For all of us trying to navigate the challenges of parenthood, we offer a variety of classes to assist and guide us on the journey: Kids and Technology, Gaming Platforms Guide for Adults, How to Raise an Intuitive Eater, Understanding Your Child with ADHD, and A Parent’s Guide to the College Process, to highlight a few.
For families who want to learn and play together, we have day trips the whole family can enjoy!
We offer so many great classes for all ages, for the community, by the community. Browse the catalog and register for classes at somadultschool.org.
