A few weeks ago, I published this article about registering for Be The Match to try to help one of our local families whose daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Since then, Jackie's twin sister Addison unfortunately received the same diagnosis. The good news, though, is that their mother Lauren has been approved as a match and they will be moving forward with transplants very soon.
Want to help and follow along? Here's how:
- Donate through Venmo: @Brian-Erb-7 and the last 4 digits of his phone number for confirmation is 7109. Please note "Team Jackie" in the Venmo notes. We know that some people like to contribute in this fashion rather than sign up for a meal. It is all appreciated.
- Donate to their GoFundMe
- Donate a meal via Meal Train: donate or sign up to send a meal to the family in Conshohocken, where they are living to be close to CHOP. There is a link in the meal train to a list of recommended restaurants. When they are released from the hospital - likely between 3/17-3/31 we will likely be stopping the MealTrain and go to catering to limit it to one person handling food.
- Follow along with their Facebook Page
- Coordinate a Be the Match Drive with a college campus - The ideal donor age is 18-40 and anyone who registers will remain on the registry until the age of 61 unless they ask to be removed. Getting college students to sign up and spread the word is ideal. In this first stage, we are just looking for folks to sign up to liaise with a school they have a relationship with - whether alumni, child at the school, etc.
