At Montclair Cooperative School, teachers are deeply committed to connecting children to the natural world, which promotes a love and respect for our planet. Children are given time outside each day to play and learn, with nature having a central role in many of their theme studies. Here children foster a sense of environmental stewardship and activism. Starting as early as 4 years old, Co-op children begin to gain a sense of their responsibility to care for the Earth. As children get older in our Pre-K through 8th grade program, field trips to the forest become overnight camp trips and eventually week-long wilderness expeditions across the US.
