Stay & Play for Extended Day at SOMA’s Mickey Fried Preschool

By Oheb Shalom July 31, 2024

SOMA's premier preschool proudly announces the addition of Stay & Play, a new extended day program.

Mickey Fried Preschool at Oheb Shalom Congregation offers a warm, creative environment that values and nurtures your child -- now for a few more hours each day!  That means added flexibility and the comfort of knowing your child is safe, learning, and growing in an environment open to families of all faiths and backgrounds.

At Mickey Fried, students begin their learning journey with the core subject areas. Early math, literacy and science concepts are introduced in a fun and approachable way. We love to see the growth of their social and listening emotional skills, along with a new ability to focus and problem solve.

Through our many enrichment classes, we expose the children to a variety of learning opportunities. These classes help improve critical thinking, social skills, fine/gross motor skills, cognitive skills, and physical fitness.

Our students thrive as they experience art, block play, use of manipulative toys, science, sand and water play, gardening, cooking, music, creative movement, dramatic play, and story time. They have learned about the life cycle of a butterfly, seasonal changes, reading emotions, details about national holidays and more. Our preschoolers participate in a different “special” each morning. These activities include yoga, story time with Ms. Val, music with Cantor Eliana Kissner, and fitness. On Fridays, we celebrate Shabbat together as a school with Rabbi Abigail Treu in a fun, age-appropriate way (see image, above).

Take a closer look at how Oheb Shalom is committed to providing play-based, high-quality early childhood education.
