A Millburn summer night with kids

By Julie Lepore, Macaroni Kid Summit/Short Hills/SOMA Publisher August 18, 2021

The other night we went to Millburn and had one of our best summer nights yet! I wanted to share what we did plus some other ideas so you can see how easy it is to make a night out of a trip to one of our downtowns in the summertime because we have several that have similar set-ups right now! Here's what we did!

Vinnie's Pan Pizza

1. We parked right off Millburn Ave behind Haagen Dazs and walked to Vinnie's Pan Pizza on Main Street. There's no seating inside or outside of Vinnie's so we walked right across the street into Taylor Park and set ourselves up at a table there. The kids were able to run around and play while we waited for the food - really a perfect setting for dinner with kids. (Other good kid-friendly dinner options in this area: Clemenza's Original Brick Oven, EVOO and Lemon, La Strada, Millburn Standard, Ms. Lin's, Mariachi Mexican, Fiamma Wood Fired Pizza, Gian Marco Trattoria)

2. We walked into Taylor Park to see the pond and the ducks. You could even stop at the playground in Taylor Park at this point if you were really looking to kill some time.

3. We headed downtown to enjoy the live music, lawn games in closed-off Main Street, and to grab some dessert that we ate at one of the tables on Main Street! Good dessert ideas: Rock'n Joe's Cafe, Splurge Bakery, Liv Breads, Haagen Dazs, Chocolate Works.

4. It was hot so we headed back to Millburn Courtyard where there's a little splash pad. This was a definite highlight for the kids! To get there, enter on the Starbucks side of Main Street. With Starbucks on your left, go about halfway down the block and make a left immediately after Coffee Mill Roasters. You can't miss it!

5. We were wet, so we went home 😬

That's it! One of the simplest nights and the kids still talk about it. Which town should we do next?
