With just a 2 liter diet soda bottle and a tube of Mentos you can have a backyard explosion! My kids LOVED this activity and I’m super lazy so I also loved it because it requires basically no effort. Got a kid who asks a lot of questions? Here's the science behind it!
Here's how you do it
Materials:
2 liter diet soda bottle
1 roll of original mint Mentos
sturdy paper
masking tape
Instructions:
1. Roll the paper around the Mentos tube and tape it so you have a new paper tube.
2. Feed all the Mentos into the new paper tube.
3. Open the soda bottle and put it somewhere with lots of open space.
4. Holding your thumb under the paper tube to keep the Mentos in, place the tube over the open soda bottle and then quickly release all of the Mentos at once.
5. Stand back and watch the explosion!
