Since starting at Macaroni Kid, I've developed a passion for supporting local businesses. These businesses are the fabric of our downtowns and, with online giants taking over, it takes conscious effort to head out to support the people who do so much for our towns every day. I urge you to check out some of these featured shops when doing your holiday shopping. Some of our towns have free babysitting and downtown entertainment throughout the holiday season - check out the Christmas Events Guide to find out when - so definitely jump on these opportunities and have some fun while supporting your local merchants.
Some other (selfish) benefits to shopping local: 1) you don't have to deal with decision fatigue, 2) the shop owner can help you pick out something special from a curated selection, 3) you can do it super last-minute, like on your way to a party.
