By Rebecca Scheer, SOMA Action October 7, 2019

Children of all ages are invited to serve as
Fairy Trail Census Workers!

October 18, 2019, 10:00am-2:00pm —Free and Educational. The World’s First Fairy Trail Census is happening in New Jersey! Children of all ages are welcome to participate/receive a Certificate of Completion for serving as a Fairy Trail Census Worker.

Get your own official badge and help count fairies living in more than 115 fairy houses! Learn about the real Constitutionally-mandated decennial Census; participate in a Proclamation Ceremony with elected officials; hike the Lenape Trail (pivotal to the Revolutionary War, Battle of Springfield); enjoy instructor-led art!

This is a fun way for kids to explore the Fairy Trail at the South Mountain Reservation. This kickoff event is on a weekday, so it would be especially great for homeschoolers and preschoolers.  It is sponsored by the US Census Bureau, SOMA Action, the South Mountain Reservation Conservancy, along with other local organizations.

Please RSVP here so we know how many fairy trackers to expect!

For Safety And Comfort:

Dress for warmth (layers suggested)
Hiking shoes/boots. Trails may be muddy and rocky in some areas.

Bring water, lunch, and/or a light snack for quick energy.

Children welcome with parent/guardians. No strollers, bicycles.

I'm excited to feature this fun event happening on October 18!
