Are you looking for ways to celebrate July 4th in Summit, Short Hills, South Orange, Maplewood, Millburn, Chatham, Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Westfield, Springfield, Mountainside, Union, West Orange, Florham Park, East Hanover, and Livingston? 

We have all your Independence Day fun in the Essex, Morris, and Union County areas — fireworks, parades, community picnics, and more — rounded up right here for you!

Here are 10 ways you can find your family fun locally on July 4th and celebrate Independence Day. We have listed them by date and then alphabetically by town:


| Tuesday, July 2

Cranford, Nomahegan Park, Cranford NJ
Details: Food vendors, amusement rides, and games begin at 5:30pm. Fireworks at 9:15pm


| Wednesday, July 3

New Providence, South Street, New Providence NJ
Details: DJ, street chalk art, and more! Event opens at 7pm. Fireworks around 9:30pm. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.


| Thursday, July 4

Chatham, Chatham Middle School
Details: Flag raising at Chatham Fire Department at 9:15am. Parade at 10:30am starting at Hillside Ave/Main St. Gates open at 7pm for pre-fireworks live music and fun. Fireworks at dusk.

Florham Park, Borough Hall Lawn
Details: An all-day celebration beginning with a flag raising ceremony at 9am. Parade at 9:30 at Ridgedale Ave/Brooklake Rd. Family picnic featuring rides, games, slides, and bounce houses from 10:30am-3pm. Beer garden from 12pm-3pm. Fireworks celebration begins at 8pm. Fireworks show begins around 9pm.

Livingston, Livingston Oval
Details: Food, fun, and music all day long! Car show begins at 9am. Rides, games, mini-golf, pony rides, ice cream eating contest, sports, beer and wine, and more from 10am-9pm. Fireworks begin at 9:15pm.

Maplewood, Memorial Park
Details: Parade, 5k run, kids' relays, car show, food court, photo booth, games and amusements, sand art, live music, magic shows, and more from 7:30am on! Fireworks begin at 9:25pm.

Millburn-Short Hills, Taylor Park and Millburn High School
Details: Morning celebration including flag raising and a stroller parade at 9am in Taylor Park. Starting at 3pm, enjoy rides, bands, food and refreshments at Millburn High school. Fireworks at 9:30pm.

Mountainside, Our Lady of Lourdes field
Details: Giveaways, snacks, and DJ music starting at 7pm followed by fireworks at dusk.

Summit, Soldiers Memorial Field
Details: Flag raising followed by bicycle parade at 9:45am. Rides, amusements, and entertainment for kids until 1pm. Memorial Field will close to set up for evening activities. Evening activities begin at 6pm and include rides, entertainment, and a food truck festival. Fireworks begin at 9:15pm.

Union, Biertuempfel Park
Details: Soapbox Derby at 10am on Stuyvesant Ave. Concert in Biertuempfel Park at 7:30pm followed by Fireworks at 9pm.

West Orange, West Orange High School
Details: Kids Zone opens at 4:30pm. Fireworks begin at dusk. Bring blankets - no chairs allowed!
