Publisher's Note: This event was originally scheduled for March 2 but was cancelled due to weather. It has been rescheduled for this weekend, March 30!
‘Kids For Kids,’ organized by the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills, Inc. (JLOSH), brings together local groups and children for a morning of hands-on volunteering March 30 from 10am-12pm.
The activities children aged six to twelve years will be able to take part in include:
• Filling bags with toiletries & essentials
• Create no-sew blankets to give to children at Saint Barnabas Medical Center/RWJBarnabas Health
• Decorating birthday bags for children in foster care
• Participate in creating a “passport” based on completion of each volunteer activity
• Have fun at our JLOSH photo booth while promoting volunteerism
• ‘The Littlest Volunteer Contest,' a contest that awards $100 to kids’ ideas for helping to improve their community.
Children will have the opportunity to donate non-perishable goods, such as peanut butter, hearty soups or canned protein meals, along with travel-sized toiletries such as deodorant.
Contributing community groups include: America’s Grow-A-Row, Caring Kids Millburn, Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary, Family Assistance Resource Center (FARC), Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges, Saint Barnabas Medical Center/RWJBarnabas Health, South Mountain YMCA, among others.
The JLOSH ‘Kids For Kids’ event goes a long way to helping children in need, while teaching kids and adults about the benefits of volunteering, and bringing together a host of community organizations.
‘Kids For Kids’ takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at the George Bauer Community Center in Taylor Park.
The Kids For Kids event is best for children aged six to twelve years accompanied by an adult.
