MY SON'S OWN REVIEW OF THE WRITERS CIRCLE CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS

A GREAT PLACE FOR ALL ASPIRING WRITERS!

By Jarrett Jackson, 11 years old September 22, 2017

When it comes to after-school programs my kids aren’t the first to try-out for the baseball, soccer or basketball teams; they like sports, but when they have a little quiet time (and the computer screens are off) they really, truly love to read and write. In our diverse area there’s of course no shortage of extra curricular programs for sports or theatre, but it’s sometimes hard to find enrichment programs that are not after-school tutoring. This is why my husband and I were delighted when a few years ago my father (a published poet himself!)  happened to see an ad for The Writer’s Circle Creative Writing Workshops* and their kids workshops in one of his poetry groups. Our son has been taking classes at The Writers Circle ever since (and our daughter starts this semester) and not only has his confidence as a writer soared, but he's learned about being part of a ‘workshop’ group and to give and take constructive criticism. But I’ll let him tell you more about his experience!:

The Writers Circle is an amazing, fun environment for all talented young authors. At affordable prices, The Writers Circle is a great place to grow and learn. Only constructive criticism is given, and improvements are made every day through games, lessons, and imagery. Everyone is asked to share their story with their class, but you never feel any pressure or fright at sharing what you have written. You are fully enclosed in a safe environment where there is only room for your story to get better and better. The teachers make lessons both entertaining and exciting, with creative games and lots of helpful advice. Your fellow students will only give you support, and never taunt you in any way. You come to each class excited, and leave in anticipation for the next. You’ll never want to miss a class, and if you do, it’s not a problem! All that is asked is that you work on your story at home, and that is easy to do.

In conclusion, The Writers Circle is, for children and adults, a great place for all aspiring young writers.

Oh, and (in some locations!) there's free WiFi.
