Whether you’re an artist, scientist, mathematician, actor, traveler, cook, or leader, the Y has a camp for you! YMCA summer camp counselors and instructors model values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Every child is taught to value the importance of difference and diversity, caring and acceptance.
The Y offers Financial Assistance to those in need, to ensure that all have the ability to participate in Y programs. For Maiya, the financial assistance program provided more than just the ability to go to camp. “When I lost my job, I was lost. The only clarity I had was that I didn’t want my children to go without. I turned to the Summit YMCA for financial assistance so that my son could attend summer camp. The staff at the Y were very welcoming, caring, and respectful—they made me feel like family and gave me the will to push forward. My son learned skills he wouldn’t have at home. He had fun, gained confidence as a swimmer and how to get along with others. The Y offered my family hope when I felt there was none. With the biggest smile from my heart, I say thank you to the YMCA.”
