Below is a list of all the Independence Day Events in our area.  They are listed alphabetically by town and there are links to more information and/or the the town websites.  Enjoy!



CHATHAM BOROUGH
4th of JULY PARADE AND FIREWORKS! 
All events near Firehouse Plaza or Chatham Middle School
480 Main Street

  • 9:15AM - Flag Raising Ceremonies at Firehouse Plaza
  • 10:30AM - PARADE begins at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Main Street and continues down Main Street to Chatham Middle School. 
  • 7:00PM - Fireworks Display & Entertainment at Chatham Middle School.  Gates open at 7PM.  

  • 9:30PM or dusk - Fireworks
  • Chatham Residents were sent complimentary tickets.  Non-residents $5 per person or $10 per family.

LIVINGSTON 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION!
FULL DAY OF EVENTS
All events on or near Livingston Oval

  • 9:00AM - 3:00PM  -  Annual Auto Show (in the HIgh School Parking Lot)
  • 10:00AM - Patriotic Ceremonies at Haines Pool, Kiwanis Swim Karnival, American Legion Baseball Game. 
  • 2:30 - 3:00 PM  - Ice cream eating contests
  • 10:00AM  - 9:00PM - Rides, games, food, music, activities around the Oval.
  • 9:15 - Fireworks!

  • 8:15am - 9:00am - KIDS’ BIKES, PARADE, DASHES & RELAYS - Ricalton Square
  • 10:00am–3:30pm - Car Show.
  • 2:00pm - 9:00pm - Live Music in the South Field
  • 1:00pm. & 3:30pm & 6:00pm - ZERBINI FAMILY CIRCUS - Under the Big Top Rain or Shine! SEATING IS LIMITED so line up early.
  • ALL DAY ACTIVITIES UNDER THE BIG EVENT TENT - Amusements, Art Project, Baking Contest, Pet Show, Robotics, Karaoke, Kids Percussion.
  • 9:00pm - LIVE MUSIC & Fireworks

  • 9:00AM - Flag Raising Ceremony and Annual Presentation of Patriot Award Approximately 9:30 AM Patriotic Bike Trike & Stroller Parade (Prizes will be awarded)
  • 10:00AM - Millburn Recreation Department Girls’ Softball League All Star- Game (Main Baseball field)

MILLBURN HIGH SCHOOL 


  • 3:00PM - 9:00PM - Music, Rides, Rock Wall, Games, Beverages, Food, 50:50 Raffle, Family Field Games
  • DUSK - FIREWORKS
  • Wristbands are one price $10 per person (child or adult) for the entire day.

JULY 3RD NEW PROVIDENCE INDEPENDENCE DAY & FIREWORKS!
ON JULY 3RD AT 7:00PM (fireworks approximately at 9:30)
on South Street from Gales Drive to Springfield Avenue
  • 7:00PM - Fun Filled Activities for the whole family.
  • 9:30PM - The  fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 PM.

SOUTH ORANGE, JULY 4TH EVENTS

MEADOWLAND PARK & COMMUNITY POOL
Meade Street and South Ridgewood Road 
Events at the pool are for South Orange Residents Only
Events in the Park are open to the public.
  • 9:00AM - 11:00AM - Field Events/Races at Cameron Field Near the Playground Fun & games for ages 3-6 between 9-10 am and for ages 7-12 between 10-11 am. Medals for all and prizes for the winner in each age group. TO REGISTER: Send an email with Subject Line “Races” to recreation@southorange.org including the participant’s name and age. 
  • 11:00AM - 1:00PM - Ping Pong Tourney (see website for groupings) 
  • 12:00-4:00PM - Slide & Bouncy House at Cameron Field Near the Pool Entrance.
  • 2:00PM - 4:00PM - Swim Races, Hot Dog Eating Contest, King of the Cornhole
  • 12:00PM - 3:00PM -  Model Boat Exhibit & Sand Art for kids at the Duck Pond. The South Orange Seaport Society will proudly display model boats at the Duck Pond

  • 6:00 PM   - Food truck and Carnival Rides reopen
