Have you driven by the Meadowlands in late June early July and seen colorful tents, roller coasters, fireworks and thought, “I should check that out!”? Well, 'that' is the New Jersey State Fair Meadowlands! It’s the largest fair in the New York metro area with over 150 rides and attractions and the fair returns to town from June 23 to July 10th.
To commemorate this 30th Anniversary Year of the State Fair they have added the brand-new Death Defying High Dive Show (included with admission). This show features an 80-foot high dive tower from which daredevil divers plunge at 50 miles per hour into a 9 ½-foot pool. The death-defying athletes perform their feats of amazing courage and strength as part of a hilarious act sure to please all the kids in your family called “Sinbad in Search of the Global Pineapple.”
Also at the State Fair Meadowlands this year (and included with your entry ticket admission) are such shows and attractions as: The Great American Thrill Show (an open-air performance of daredevil acrobats and aerialists), The Racing Pigs, Master Hypnotist Steve Bayner, an Educational Petting Zoo, plus all sorts of Live Concerts throughout the summer! State Fair Meadowlands also features over 50 white-knuckle rides, and the largest Kiddieland in New Jersey, with plenty of rides to please every child (additional pricing for the rides).
I would recommend that families go on Monday - Wednesday when there is FREE PARKING and less crowds and also - I’m told - more of a "local New Jersey vibe" (plus you’ll get better seats at the shows!). There’s so much going on at the State Fair Meadowlands and a lot of information so please visit their website for more details.
Fair hours are Monday through Thursday, 6 pm to midnight; Fridays 6 pm to 1 am; Saturdays 2 pm to 1 am; Sundays 2 pm to midnight. This year, the fair will hold a Preview Night on Thursday, June 23, with Throwback Admission/Ride Handstamp, from 6 pm to midnight. Dollar Day is Friday, June 24, from 5 pm to 1 am. On Sunday, July 3, the fair is open 2 pm to 1 am; on Monday, July 4 from 2 pm to 1 am. Don’t miss Kids Go Free Night, on Wednesday, June 29, open 4 pm to midnight, and Cheap Cheap Night, on Wednesday, July 6, from 4 pm to midnight. The fair is closed to the public on Sunday, June 26.
Parking is free Monday through Wednesday, and $5 Thursdays through Sundays. Opening night, parking is just $2.
