It may be cold outside, but many people already have their children enrolled in Summer Camp. Meadowbrook Day Camp (www.MeadowbrookDayCamp.com), owned and directed by long-time Millburn residents Roz and Jed Buck, is located on 50 beautiful acres in Long Valley. Meadowbrook is best described as a Camper’s paradise!

According to Roz, “We are the only Day Camp in the area that is fully owned and directed by a husband and wife team who work exclusively at the Camp all year long…and we have a genuine love and passion for what we do. It’s important to us that we form personal connections with our Campers and their families so that everyone knows that they are part of our Meadowbrook Family.”
It is not surprising that Roz and Jed love Summer Camp, because they met 30 years ago as Camp Counselors. Roz says, “What I enjoy most about directing Meadowbrook is the fact that I know that every day I have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many children. I have daily interactions with Campers and I watch my staff interacting with Campers every day of the Summer, and I know that all of these special Camp moments are building life skills and creating positive, indelible memories that will last a lifetime for these children.”

Meadowbrook’s philosophy focuses on building valuable life skills. Jed emphasizes the importance of Campers developing independence, collaboration, decision-making and problem solving skills, just to name a few. Over 10 years ago, Meadowbrook created their unique T.I.G.E.R. (T=Teamwork, I=Integrity, G=Generosity, E=Enthusiasm, R=Respect) program to help teach important community building values with these life skills. Campers are recognized for displaying T.I.G.E.R. qualities which encourages them to practice T.I.G.E.R. acts all Summer long and throughout the entire year.

Jed, Roz and their professional Leadership Team train responsible Staff members to act as positive role models for their Meadowbrook Campers. The Team also creates open lines of communication with Campers’ families to ensure a successful experience.
Meadowbrook runs three programs within the Camp: a Tiny Toons program for Pre-school and Kindergarten Campers, their Main Camp program for children entering Grades 1 to 6, and a Travel program for Campers entering Grades 7 to 9. Campers have the option of attending 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 weeks. The Camp features: two private lakes (one for Boating and Fishing and the other for nature exploration), a 9,000 square foot pool complex (with three heated pools), an indoor air-conditioned schoolhouse, wooded trails, two Tennis Courts, three Basketball Courts, two Softball Fields, three Soccer Fields, 2 Hockey Rinks, Beach Volleyball, a Lacrosse/Tapu-Aie field, a Flag Football Field, a Gymnastics Facility with raised floor for appropriate cushioning, 4 GaGa Courts, a Team Handball Field, an extensive Challenge Course (30 foot Climbing Tower, 460’ long Zipline, Giant Swing, Pamper Pole, Burma Steps, Ship’s Mast Net, Vertical Playpen, Obstacle Course, Low Ropes Course, Junior Challenge Course for younger Campers), Mountain Biking, Fun Carts, Archery, Fine Arts and Craft Centers, two Dance stages, air-conditioned Ceramics Studio, air-conditioned Cooking Center, air-conditioned Gymnastics building for their younger Campers, Music, Nature, Whispering Woods (their own “nature preserve” with gardening and Native American crafts, sports and games), Bonfire Cooking, Bumper Boats, air-conditioned Arcade, Mountain Boarding, Chocolate, Rocketry, Tetherball, Meadowbrook Dance Show, weekly special events, and two age-appropriate playgrounds. Trained, mature Athletics Staff and Specialty Counselors organize and provide age-appropriate instruction at all activities.

Meadowbrook has an outstanding Red Cross based Swim Instruction program. Each Camper swims at least twice each day. For Campers up through 6th grade, the first swim is instructional and the second is a free swim. The Camp has 3 Waterfront Directors and over thirty certified Red Cross Lifeguards to ensure safety and effective progress with swim skills.
In addition to an outstanding program and facility, Camp tuition includes door-to-door transportation on air-conditioned mini school buses and a healthy, kid friendly lunch and snacks daily. All tips for Staff are also included so that there truly is no additional cost to Meadowbrook families beyond their Campers’ tuition.
Roz and Jed invite you to join them at their Open House on Sunday, March 16, 11 am - 3 pm to meet them and their Leadership Team and to tour their beautiful Facility on heated mini-school buses.
