Below is an excerpt of a Macaroni Kid interview with Jeff Fatt from The Wiggles before the tour last year.
MK: How do you think the fans will react to the new Wiggles and (Gasp) a girl Wiggle?
JF: Some might be a little sad, but they are so great, and Emma is such a bright light I’m sure they will love them as much as ever.
MK: What type of involvement will you have moving forward?
JF: After the tour I’ll still be very much involved, writing songs, working behind the camera, acting as a mentor and more.
MK: What inspired Anthony to stay on?
JF: He loves it. Each of us made our own decision, what’s right for our families and our own lives, and Anthony just has such a love for performing and the audience and inspiring kids and families, he’s delighted to stay on.
Meet The New Generation Wiggles!
Emma
Emma wears the yellow Wiggles shirt. She is a wonderful dancer and can dance ballet, jazz, tap and even Irish dancing. She’s been dancing since she was a young girl. Emma loves wearing her signature bows in her red hair and even on her shoes, she says they look “bowtiful’! Emma also plays the drums with a joyous wiggly beat. She is the driver of the Big Red Car and sings “Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car” as she drives.
Lachy
“Lucky” Lachy wears the purple Wiggles shirt. He plays the keyboards, sings and dances. Although he is very talented, Lachy is bashful and will often blush at most things. Lachy loves to sleep and believes it’s his purple shirt that makes him sleepy.
Simon
Simon wears the red Wiggles shirt. He sings with a beautiful deep bassbaritone voice. It’s said that Simon’s singing voice is so nice that it could “charm the whistle off an evening train”. He loves to sing and do the actions to “Simon Says” with our audience. If you make a mistake he’ll sing to you, “Whoops, I didn’t say ‘Simon Says’!”
Anthony
Anthony wears the blue Wiggles shirt. He sings and plays the guitar, drums, tin whistle and even bagpipes! He likes dancing and is the Wiggly compere of their live shows. Anthony loves eating! His favorite food is fruit salad and he especially loves apples as these healthy foods give him lots of energy.
