EDITOR'S NOTE: MLK DAY SERVICE PROJECTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

PLUS A SOPAC GIVEAWAY AND MAPLE SUGARING!

By Elizabeth Moglia Jackson January 13, 2017
Hello Everyone,

Happy 3-Day Weekend!  This week's newsletter includes many family friendly events and activities for you (as usual), but I've also listed many National Day of Service projects that you can do together in celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday.  Here are the highlights:

SOPAC TICKET GIVEAWAY! This week we have a giveaway to another entertaining and educational show from our friends at the South Orange Performing Arts Center.  Mammoth Follies is a musical about dinosaurs and evolution featuring gigantic dinosaur puppets.  Click here to read more about the show and enter the giveaway

NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY:
The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday is a Nationally recognized Day of Service.  You can recruit your whole family to do volunteer work at Summit's 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service or participate in a Volunteer Fair at Columbia High School in Maplewood.   I've highlighted these projects and others in a separate article which you can find by clicking here (everything is also on the daily calendar).

MAPLE SUGARING
! Other events this week include some outdoor activities such as Maple Sugaring at The Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center where you can learn how to identify and tap maple trees, collect sap and make syrup; and a Winter Guided Hike at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum & Bird Sanctuary where you can learn about Hibernation.

Please remember
to follow and like Macaroni Kid on Facebook for more updates, and don't forget that from the website you can see all this week's events by clicking here for the homepage and scrolling down for more activities, or by clicking on the Event Calendar!

Thanks and have a great week,
Liz
