This week's calendar is full of family-friendly activities and events designed to officially “kick off” the Holiday Season. From Tree Lightings to Cookie Decorating to Santa Arrival Parties, there’s something to get everyone in the Holiday Spirit, and it’s all listed in this week's Macaroni Kid Calendar and my special Holiday Family Event Guide!

First up, our Ticket Giveaway this week is from our friends at the Paper Mill Playhouse. See the classic story, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe come to life on stage in Millburn. Click her for details.
HOLIDAY TRADITIONS AND FESTIVALS IN THE SUMMIT, SHORT HILLS, SOMA AREA:
My favorite part of the Holiday Season in this region is all the beautiful FREE holiday celebrations in many of our towns. Every holiday you can see the lovely Dickens Village in the heart of Maplewood (across from the NJ Transit station on Maplewood Avenue). Dickens Village features 10 houses decorated as scenes in Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. You can walk around anytime until the end of the season, but there are also special hours when you can walk inside the houses. In addition, each weekend (and at the beginning of Hanukkah) there are special events including horse and carriage rides, petting zoos, carolers and storytelling. Summit also has many events around their Village Green each weekend including tomorrow’s “Santa’s Holiday Party”, plus horse and carriage rides and free ice skating throughout December. Please check the Holiday Family Event Guide for details.
